Crafted with Colour, Inspired by Joy
The story behind Joy Revival Design – where heirloom fabrics, seaside treasures and a love of bold design come together in handmade jewellery, homewares and creative workshops.
"My love for colour, pattern and making began with my Nanny Joy – and I’ve been creating ever since."
Growing up, weekends were filled with visits to my grandparents’ home – a place bursting with colour, creativity and charm. My Nanny Joy was always dressed in bright, joyful fabrics, her house full of pattern and personality. She was the one who first taught me to sew, sparking a lifelong passion for crafting with my hands and designing with heart.
Those early memories are the foundation of Joy Revival Design – and they still influence every piece I make today.
Now based in Portobello, Edinburgh, I draw daily inspiration from the sea, sky and changing light on the East Lothian coast. Walking the beach with my children and dog, I started collecting sea glass and pottery – small treasures smoothed and shaped by the waves.
These finds became the starting point for my sea glass jewellery: each piece a one-of-a-kind blend of beachcombed beauty and brass, designed to honour the natural forms and textures shaped by the sea.
“What once was discarded becomes something precious again – transformed by nature, treasured by hand.”
“Sustainability, to me, means valuing what we already have – and turning it into something joyful.”
Fabric with a new life
My fabric jewellery was born from a desire to waste less and create more. As I worked on lampshades and accessories, I found myself unable to part with the offcuts of beautiful fabric. The colours and patterns were far too lovely to throw away – so I started transforming them into bold, wearable pieces.
Each item is handmade using carefully selected textiles, giving new life to fabric that would otherwise be forgotten.
As well as creating products, I run regular workshops where people can come together, slow down, and create something with their own hands. From jewellery-making to fabric crafts, these sessions are relaxed, inspiring and full of colour – just like my Nanny Joy’s home.
Whether you’re looking to learn a new skill or simply want to enjoy a few creative hours in good company, my workshops are designed to be welcoming and uplifting.
“Crafting is a way to connect – to materials, to memories, and to each other.”
